Last updated · April 2026

Rightful (rightful.law) helps renters in California, New York, and Texas contest security deposit deductions. This policy describes what we collect, how we use it, and the rights you have over your data.

What we collect

We collect information you provide during your chat session: property details, deposit amounts, deduction descriptions, and any documents you upload (leases, photos, statements). We also collect your email address if you create an account, and standard web analytics (IP address, browser type, pages visited).

How we use it

Your case information is used to analyze your deposit dispute and generate your challengeable-charges breakdown and demand email. We do not sell your data. We do not share your information with landlords or third parties except as needed to process payments (Stripe) and store data (Supabase).

Data retention

Free session data is retained for 30 days. Paid case data is retained for 1 year. You may request deletion at any time by emailing privacy@rightful.law.
